SUPER SAFARIS - ZIMBABWE

The high plains of Zimbabwe, in particular the Mumbo Jumbo game reserve, offer the safari visitor the opportunity to witness the migration of the mighty Jumbuck herds. A compelling instinct prompts these magnificent beasts to start their journey North from their Southern grazing grounds. They stream across the plains in their countless thousands - unfortunately, once they arrive in the North, they find they don't like it there and immediately start streaming South again. Back in the South, of course, that instinct takes over once more! At any point in time the Jumbucks will be streaming in one direction or the other - you may be fortunate enough to witness the confusion when one herd is streaming North while another is streaming South. Streaming is what Jumbucks do best and much speculation has arisen as to when they find time to stop streaming for long enough to do what is necessary to ensure that little Jumbucks arrive on the scene.

No holiday in Zimbabwe would be complete without a trip to the Victoria falls where the mighty Zambesi river tumbles over a granitic escarpment, cascading down to continue its journey onward to the distant ocean. It has generally been accepted that the falls were discovered by Dr. Livingstone whilst he was trying to avoid Stanley (a seedy reporter from one of the tabloids who hounded Livingstone all over Africa), however, this view has been challenged by countless millions of Africans who reckon that they knew the falls were there all along. The majority of scholars continue to uphold the case for Livingstone as being the true discoverer on the grounds that no right-minded African would have named the falls after the queen of England.
