Newhaven
& District Branch

The British Diabetic Association is the national diabetes charity in the United Kingdom and has some 400 branches spread nationally throughout the UK. The branches have a vital role to play in the affairs of the Association at grass roots level and remain a dynamic link between members and the Association.

The purpose of branches closely allied with the charity is to promote awareness of the problems and complications associated with the condition, care for sufferers in the locale of the branch and campaign for improved treatments. Branches also raise much needed funds by means of many and varied methods in order to contribute towards research and care projects instigated by branches or the Association itself.

The Newhaven & District Branch was inaugurated in mid 1995 and has evolved into a extremely viable and well supported branch with a regular attendance of 20 or more members at each of our meetings which take place on the last Thursday of each month.

At our meetings we regularly invite guest speakers, usually health care professionals, who are able to advise and educate on diabetes matters. Meetings are held either in Newhaven or Lewes alternately.
