Development Issues is one of five option books available in 'The Geography Collection' to supplement the core text 'World Wide'. As in 'World Wide' each section is introduced with a set of key ideas, outlining the major points of discussion contained within it.

This text covers development in its broadest sense, as it deals with regional differences within EU, the role of tourism in development, as well as international development.
Plenty of data in a variety of forms is available in this book together with numerous exercises to test student understanding and skills. As in all the option books reference is made to a number of case studies. There is also a thematic contents page showing which pages contains useful information for studying issues involving:
The decision making exercise in 'Development Issues' deals with rural development in Gabon. The book also contains three project suggestions which aim to investigate:
A glossary, list of useful addresses, and a list of references are provided at the back of the book to enable further investigation of the topics covered in the text. (You should note however, that Tourism Concern's address has changed - their current address is in the GeoNet address book).
Development Issues succeeds in providing a concise guide to what is a very complex and demanding topic. My only criticism is that the case studies should perhaps have been expanded as they do not really offer enough information for a quality A level response.
