Thomas's mum and dad Helen and Scott sent their story to Left Heart Matters.

Thomas was born with HLHS on Dec. 3 1997 and is now 3 months old. He has had one operation so far and will have the second one this coming June. He was diagnosed with this two days after birth and we took an emergency flight to Seattle to have the operation. We live in a small rural town in Idaho- 6 hours driving time to Seattle. The doctors there were wonderful and we owe Thomas' life to their knowledge and expertise. We are confident for a bright future and thank God everyday for giving us Thomas. He is a blessing to us all. We have another boy too- Peter is 3 years old and loves Thomas very much. I am originally from Brisbane, Australia where all my family still live. I married my American husband after living here for a year on a teacher's exchange. I am interested in locating other families in Australia with HLHS childen. We may return there one day to live.
