Humans Anonymous is a self-help group with a programme of recovery for people suffering from compulsions and / or addictions of various kinds. It is a non-profit making organisation run by and for its members. No charge is made for its services and there are no membership fees. It is open to all who seek freedom from addictive and compulsive patterns of thought and behaviour.
There are three elements to the programme of recovery from compulsive and addictive patterns of thought and behaviour.
Many people who suffer from problems of compulsion and addiction feel isolated and helpless. They may despair of there being any solution to their problems. Yet everyone we know who has followed the Humans Anonymous programme has benefited from it. Like anything else, however, the more you put in, the more you get out.
There is a spiritual dimension to this programme but you dont have to believe in anything. This programme is open to those of all religious faiths and none. You just have to be willing to try to work through the programme to the best of your ability.
By attending meetings and completing Step 1 you should get a clear picture if you are suffering from compulsive or addictive patterns of thought or behaviour - providing you are honest with yourself. Humans Anonymous offers a way of dealing with these problems, but it is not necessarily the only way. It can also be used together with various therapies, treatment programmes or spiritual teachings. Only you can decide whether Humans Anonymous is for you, but we suggest you try it out for a reasonable period to get a fair idea.
The only requirement for membership of Humans Anonymous is a desire to seek freedom from addictive and compulsive patterns of thought and behaviour. Anyone, regardless of race, religion, age, creed, class, gender or sexual orientation is welcome.
