DESIGNING THE STEM ENTRY
Start
with a visit to the Science Museum - this allows students time to peruse the available
galleries and exhibits, chose which one they wish to base their web site on, take numerous
photos with the schools digital camera, make copious notes to enhance their entry and
follow attractive students from other schools around the museum!
Spend
time with students whilst they produce a draft of their final web site, be warned that
their final entry will bear little resemblance to this.
Phone
the museum to arrange for a STEM Field Officer to visit your school for the day. You will
find this invaluable, students really benefit from the guidance and advice. In addition
you should be able to wangle a day off timetable - what more could you ask?
We
found that running a STEM club once a week was inadequate towards the end of the project.
Students had to spend additional time after school and during their lunch breaks working
on their entries.
