
This new two year full-time course in association with (and subject to validation by) the University of Brighton, will deliver an exciting programme of practical skills in the Digital Arts in parallel with an investigation of concepts centred around new media.
Students will learn how to use industry standard tools to create and combine graphics, typography, sound and moving image to produce innovative, interactive content for a multitude of applications and purposes (CD, DVD, Interactive kiosks, websites, intranets, e-commerce...).
course content
In the first year, students will examine the principles of multimedia products, communications and technology. They will study the methods used to digitise image, video and audio from numerous sources, then manipulate and combine the resulting data to develop interactive products.
In the second year, students will be able to choose from a number of specialisms which include Video Post Production and Editing, Web Site Management, and Animation Techniques.
The programme also includes the important area of marketing. In final year project work, students from all the partner colleges will contribute towards the creation of complete multimedia products.
entry requirements
Applications are invited for a September 2000 commencement. You should hold either a National Diploma or 3 A-levels in relevant areas and should have a portfolio of Design or Computer based work. Applications from mature students with relevant experience are also welcomed. Selection is by competitive Interview.

Multimedia professionals with relevant expertise are in considerable demand. This course opens up a wide range of job opportunities in the exciting and fast-growing area of new media design and development, (on-line publishing, edutainment, e-commerce and marketing, graphic design and illustration, distance learning, games development, sound and video production...).
Diplomates of the course may also be eligible for entry on to related degree courses at the University of Brighton and elsewhere.

The Sussex HND in Multimedia is run at the four partner colleges of ECAT, HCAT, BCT and LTC, in association with the University of Brighton. This arrangement means that an HND Multimedia student at one of the partner colleges will also be a member of the University and enjoy the same benefits as other university students.
