The
National Diploma aims to give you the best possible preparation and training
for the competitive careers associated with Performing Arts. The course
is structured to allow you to specialise in performance or technical theatre.
Entry requirements
It is normally recommended that you have passed 4 GCSEs at grade C
or above (or a related equivalent eg. GNVQ Intermediate or ëAí level in
a related area. External examinations in dance, drama, music or arts will
also be looked upon favourably).
However, the main thing we are looking for is commitment
to excellence in the Performing Arts. We welcome applications from mature
students for whom there are no formal entry requirements. You will need
to attend an interview and audition. (No pre-prepared work will be needed
for this audition - just your enthusiasm).
Assessment
Assessment is by ongoing assignment work, both practical and research
based. You will also need to keep log books on many of the practical assignments.
There are no formal examinations but for each successful assignment you
will gain a pass, merit or distinction grade. The final unit grade will
reflect the sum of all the assignments within that unit. Overall you will
complete 18 units of study over the two year course. The assessment programme
will be verified by an external moderator, and both internal and external
verifiers. Assessment leads to the award of the BTEC National Diploma in
Performing Arts.
