TSoH PBeM: Turn Procedure
Each turn the following sequence of events occurs.
- GM rolls for sighting and determines flight order.
- I conduct searches and determine initiative for individual
aircraft. So, if someone is advantaged over you, they'll move after you, it makes no difference
that one of your wingmates has your bogey in their sights (although they'll move after the bogey).
- GM mails each player individually with information on their current contacts.
- I also include a summary of what each player saw last turn.
- Players send a 'radio' message to the GM, which is then transmitted to all of their wingmates.
- A 'radio' message is limited to about two lines of text (~160 characters) and shouldn't contain
'game' information (eg. no hex numbers). All of a side's messages are compiled into a single file which
is mailed to everyone simultaneously.
- At any point during the turn. players may transmit a 'reply' which will be immediately echoed to their wingmates.
- Replies are limited to three words at the moment (but are sent with sender identification). Forthcoming games may
allow a slightly longer reply.
- GM mails each player in order as their move is due including updated positions for sighted aircraft that have moved already.
- Players send their move to the GM along with orders for gunshots, missile launches and any special instructions (radar modes,
damage control, padlocks, etc.). Additionally players fly any missiles targetted on themselves which they have in sight (subject to GM adjustment).
- Trying to hit yourself with missiles might seem a little odd, but it greatly speeds up play. Otherwise each proportional move segment requires an e-mail exchange.
- GM flies unsighted missiles and resolves attacks and damage. The player who has been damaged is told the extent of their troubles, and
anyone who's visual with them is informed of any visible damage effects.
- GM performs end of turn accounting and updates records.
So each turn each player recieves:
- A sighting report (and update of last turn's sightings), to which they reply with a 'radio' message.
- A 'radio' report (assuming anyone said anything), to which they may make a short reply.
- A call to move and updated sighting report, to which they reply with their move orders.
Clear? :-)
